Actor-Network Theory and the Technological Economy

Conference: Business and Society Research Group Seminar

Dates: 9 March 2009

Abstract:

In my talk I will introduce actor-network theory (ANT) as a constructivist research approach. I will discuss some of its ontological assumptions and methodological implications, and review how it has been deployed in economic sociology. Then I will use my case study of e-commerce entrepreneurship to illustrate how I'm implementing ANT. I will end with teasing out what this method can say about the moral economy, linking it in with the discussion on the technological economy.
