Abstract:

Cloud computing adoption has had a considerable impact on organisations, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), not only by increasing the efficiency of acquiring IT resources, but also on IT management roles and security. In this paper, we discuss the impact that cloud computing is having on IT management roles by examining redundant and emerging roles. Further, since the emergence of cloud computing, security has been one of the main concerns for cloud users. Therefore, security of cloud computing from user’s and security professionals’ perspectives is explored and related issues discussed. Finally, issues related to migration to cloud computing, as well as security were explored through interviews of IT managers, security professionals, and cloud technical professionals.
