Abstract:

This presentation is based on the idea that 'creativity' is, as Gottfried Wagner puts it, "a beloved non-word" - applied so promiscuously as to be useless. Nevertheless, within the domain of screenwriting it has value and power - screenwriting manuals valorise it and writers invest in 'creative identities'. I ask then, how might we work critically with the term in order to enhance the practice of writing?
