Abstract:

In this paper a 3D plant modeling method based on projection image is presented. A novel simple 3D reconstruction algorithm is proposed and its calibration speed and precision are analyzed. Min-cross section algorithm and Ball B-spline are applied to extract the skeleton of the reconstructed image and to fit the meshes respectively. Experiments show that the reconstructed columnar root, branch and haulm are very vivid, and that the reconstruction process is fast, memory efficient, and easy to implement. Our approach can be used in digitization and visualization of plant morphology for digital agricultural museum.
