Abstract:Describes the Sure Start project devised by the Tandem Project to find ways of encouraging parents from disadvantaged backgrounds to get involved in helping their children's preschool educational development. Evidence showing that children whose parents reported putting more effort into the intervention made greater progress than children whose parents were not so enthusiastic.
