Abstract:

Inclusion at school implies a rethinking regarding education of students with and without special needs. In a lot of other countries Occupational Therapists are part of a multi-professional education team. The medical therapeutic knowledge of OT complements teachers educational/teaching knowledge. Working in a school environment has different demands compared to a more traditional role of OT in a medical setting. Therefore changes and the development of new concepts in practical OT work seem to be necessary. The implementation of inclusion here is still in progress according to social and political demands. Occupational Therapists are asked to act on these demands so that inclusion will be realized as a socially important challenge. Copyright: Schulz-Kirchner Verlag, Idstein.
