The Journées Chevreul 2011 Lipids and Brain 2 was organized by the Société Fraņaise pour l'Etude des Lipides (SFEL; the French Society for the Study of Lipids) and was held in Paris, France. This 3-day focused meeting continued the successful Journées Chevreul Lipids and Brain, also held in Paris in 2007, and the 2008 Brain and Lipids Conference, held in Oslo. The SFEL replaced the Association Fraņaise pour l'Etude des Corps Gras (AFECG), which was created in 1943. The members of SFEL are researchers from the private and public sectors. The aim of the society is to bring specialists and researchers together, in order to promote the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge in this field. © 2011 Future Medicine Ltd.
