Biography

Dr Suzy Atfield-Cutts is a lecturer on the computing courses at Bournemouth University. Most recently Suzy has gained her PhD by developing a taxonomy to guide practitioners in the use of video feedback. Formerly a Systems Administrator/Commercial Producer & Presenter in radio, and a Software Trainer for legal practice software, she came from industry as an undergraduate studying BSc(Hons) Software Engineering Management and became a Demonstrator in the department. Later she gained a PGCert in Education Practice and became a lecturer on completing her PhD. Suzy's research focuses on computing education, and programming in particular.

Research

Suzy's research has covered several areas of computing education. Her PhD was to develop a taxonomy to guide practitioners implementing video feedback (BU 2020). Prior to that work has been published on audio feedback, peer assisted learning, and experience-based learning. Also the Adaptive Multimedia Presentation System (AMPS) was designed to support learning. Most recently, born out of necessity, work was published on applying technologies and practices in the rapid shift to remote learning.
