Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Bournemouth University. Prior to coming to Bournemouth in 2015, I was Lecturer in Fribourg (Switzerland) and held post-doc positions at the Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging (CCNi) and Institute of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Glasgow. I received my Ph.D. in Psychology in 2004 from the University of Lille (France).

Research

My research focuses on developmental aspects of active vision. Characterizing oculomotor strategies and the factors modulating them is a crucial step to specify the information available to the brain and, in turn, what type of representations or processing can occur. I am interested in how development, in children and elders, modulates the visual sampling strategies depending on experience with the task, culture and executive functioning. I develop and use innovative gaze-contingent techniques to precisely isolate visual diagnostic information during a wide range of lab and real-world tasks (face processing, reading, road-crossing etc). I also develop novel analysis techniques and reconstruction methods for a precise delineation of perception-action coordination. Overall this approach provides a fine-grained characterisation of the developmental dynamics of active vision abilities underlying critical tasks for human beings.
