Biography
I qualified as a Registered General Nurse (Salisbury School of Nursing) in 1994 and my first job was in A and E, I very much enjoyed the care of the whole family and went on to do my Registered Sick Childrens Nursing. An interest in surgery led to a staff nurse position of the then new Day Surgery Unit at Salisbury District Hospital. As one of the Sisters on the unit I became involved in the teaching of the ENB Day Surgery course, this lead onto a Lecturer Practitioner role within the University. After many years working along side my Operating Department Practice (ODP) colleagues I was very pleased to be invited to be part of the ODP Team, I then obtained my PGCE from Southampton University, this led to a full time position, focusing on the postanaesthetic care of patients, and the in 2014 becoming the programme lead. I feel very privileged to be part of a team with many years experience in anaesthetic, surgery and postanaesthetic care of patients, that believes in safe, good quality care of the perioperative patient.
