Abstract:

Entrepreneurship is a concept that is widely misunderstood and is rather elusive. The contribution by Schumpeter to understanding entrepreneurship with the notion of ‘creative destruction’ has been widely adopted, including in relation to the creative industries. The distinction is made between cultural entrepreneurship in for-profit enterprises and non-profit organizations in the arts and the crucial role played by the individual, illustrated by case studies of entrepreneurs in the arts.
