Abstract:

This chapter explores how interviews are made with, for and about prisoners. It considers the different ways people in prison engage with radio production, by examining how they are taught to question, research and record. The interview is a central method of communication across prison radio projects, where the act of questioning and listening are fundamental requirements. This chapter collates experiences, opportunities and challenges faced by prison radio tutors and practitioners who work with people in prison, as well as gathering the experiences from incarcerated people themselves, policies and archives recordings.
