Abstract:

An extraction and analysis procedure is described for the detection of benzodiazepines in bloodstains. The use of gas-liquid chromatography (GLC) with electron capture detection (ECD) enables therapeutic levels of diazepam, desmethyldiazepam, chlordiazepoxide, nitrazepam, desalkylflurazepam and temazepam to be detected in stains prepared from 50 to 100μl blood. © 1979, Forensic Science Society.
