Biography

Dr Joshua Rieser is a lecturer in history and law. His research predominantly focuses on British foreign policy, specifically relations with China and Southeast Asia. Joshua's specialisation incorporates research on intelligence, propaganda and communication. Alongside his research, Joshua is the unit lead for Information Wars: Media, Power and Communication and the Law and Government modules at Bournemouth University. He also teaches on Historical Skills, European Histories (1800-2000), Constitutional law and Human Rights units.

Research

Joshua is currently in the process of writing up a joint journal article on zonal foreign policy and British decolonisation practices in Anglophile Adjacent Territories. Working title -

Zonal understanding: The UK, intelligence gathering, and the rules of engagement in the post-colonial Global South

Joshua is also publishing an article on Anglo-Chinese relations in the Cold War titled -

British Foreign Policy: Historical Understanding and Lessons from Anglo-Chinese Relations
