Adam’s Ph.D. research is on the financial econometric modelling of the determinants of the price of gold. He also has interests in commodities, cryptocurrencies, and FinTech. At BU, he teaches various subjects including Finance, Econometrics, Research Project, Accounting and Portfolio Theory.

As a BU student, he obtained a BA in Economics, an MSc in Finance, PG Cert in Education Practice, and awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) demonstrating his commitment and professionalism.

Research

Adam’s Ph.D. research includes investigating the determinants of the gold price, focusing on aspects including finance and financial econometrics. The research covers relevant issues and trends, namely, commodity pricing, monetary policy, FinTech, cryptocurrencies, globalisation, and geopolitical tensions.

Additionally, Adam is working on a research project for DEFRA in collaboration with Exeter University to improve the modelling and forecasting of food prices. This focuses on the concepts and empirical analysis of issues relevant to the UK food chain, namely, price transmission, food inflation and the links between food and health. The research includes the analysis of retail scanner and weather data. The project involves collaboration with colleagues at Bournemouth (Prof. Tim Lloyd) and Exeter (Prof. Steve McCorriston and Dr. Han Lin). The project has funding from Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (2024-2026).

Adam is currently enrolled in a data analytics staff apprenticeship course with Cambridge Spark learning practical techniques that can be applied to the building of econometric models. The topics include Python, Pandas, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Machine Learning, etc. His objective is to bridge financial and economic theory to the building of econometric models such as forecasting. An additional objective is to help expand BU’s course offerings in this area.
