Biography
Having completed my nurse training at Homerton College Cambridge in 1997, I worked in mental health and learning disability services across the NHS and third sector for eight years. This was followed by ten years as an inspector for the Care Quality Commission where I was able to pursue interests in improving services for people with dementia, professional report writing and involving people with lived experience in regulatory activity.
Returning to the NHS in 2015 I worked in a quality assurance role within the Nursing, Therapies and Quality directorate of a NHS trust and then as a practice educator where I focused on the development of degree apprenticeships in adult, mental health and learning disability nursing. This enabled me to complete graduate and postgraduate studies in professional practice and education at BU while also achieving qualifications as a Professional Nurse Advocate, mindfulness trainer, Mental Health First Aid instructor and Schwartz Round facilitator promoting reflection on practice and staff wellbeing...
Joining the University Practice Learning Advisor team at BU enables me to pursue my passion for education and widening participation into the health professions. To achieve this, I am committed to providing effective support for all our learners by working in partnership with local employers to enable their successful transition into the workforce.
