Biography
Ben Lanham is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science in the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences at Bournemouth University.
Ben has nineteen years of experience working within the forensic science industry at one of the UK's main forensic service providers. Prior to joining Bournemouth University Ben was a Senior Reporting Scientist and a Scientific Lead for biology scenes. Ben has extensive experience of reporting a range of biology casework including body fluid identification, DNA profiling, textile damage assessments and attending major crime scenes to provide blood pattern interpretation. His leadership experience includes managing a team of mixed discipline forensic scientists for ten years and in doing so gained knowledge of gun shot residue (GSR) analysis, fire and accelerants science as well as trace evidence. In addition, he contributed to UKAS assessments and internal audits ensuring adherence to rigorous industry standards. Ben has a particular interest in cold cases, has provided expert evidence within the court system of England and Wales on numerous occasions and has been involved in mentoring and training scientists for a number of years including expert witness courtroom skills.
