Abstract:AI has been employed since 23 December 2000 in the broadcasting industry in China. Since 2010 AI has become an important area of growth in the Chinese media industry. AI has also been one of the priorities of China’s National Development Plan since 2015, and in the intervening period the Chinese Government has issued 12 important documents related to AI development. For radio broadcasters, AI is an opportunity to win larger audiences and remain competitive in their business and experiment in new directions. Does artificial intelligence enhance the experience for young listeners in China? What is the current situation in the radio industry with respect to the application of AI technology? And what are its implications for the future development of sound and other media? What new style does AI bring to a radio programme? To what extent does AI extend the scope of radio content? Has AI promoted a new level of interaction with the radio audience? In this chapter, we will discuss these factors in turn.
