Abstract:

It is crucial to cocreate policies that sustain the environment, while reviewing samples of the largest emitters in the world. The need to examine the renewable energy-water-environment (REWE) nexus with surgery of its fundamentals, tools, technology, and related policies cannot be overemphasized, especially in times of crisis. This chapter highlights several policies that are related to the nexus among renewable energy (RE), water, and the quality of the environment. This chapter uses an exploratory approach to demonstrate the changes needed across the board for maximizing the unlimited potential and the need to invest in RE sources. Considering the growing population in the world economy, the use of high-performance energy-consuming technologies has consequences on the environment and climate. Thus, this chapter argues for the need for more green innovations and policies that are friendly, achievable, and cocreated with stakeholders within the energy and water sectors. As a result of environmental degradation and changing climatic patterns, there are threats to the sustainability of life on earth. While environmental quality is attributed and dependent on the accumulation of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, it is recommended that government, private investors, and other stakeholders prepare policies that are cocreated to secure a clean environment.
