Abstract:

My name is Shannon and I am a 25-year-old care leaver who got placed into care around the age of 18 months. I was young enough to be adopted and my brother to be fostered; however, my paternal grandmother and step-grandad could not watch me and my brother being split up so stood in ‘temporarily’ to be our legal guardians. As I said, temporarily; this meant that our parents were given the opportunity to receive help and support in order to meet the needs that us as children required.
