Abstract:In summary, therefore, it is possible to see the ice-marginal zone as the interface between the glacial and non-glacial process domains. It is a zone characterized by sediment transfer and storage and the degree of connectivity between the two process domains is critical in determining whether the ice-marginal zone is dominated by glacial or by fluvial processes. It is important to note that this discussion has focused on terrestrial ice-marginal environments, but the basic principles also apply in aquatic ice-marginal environments.
