Abstract:

Coming to the UK has been a scary and joyful experience, and living here has been inextricably linked to my academic experiences and identity. Becoming increasingly fascinated with creative research methods, I asked my research participants to take photos. So when an email pinged in my mailbox about this book, I thought it would be a great opportunity for the first-hand experience of using creative methods to enable self-reflection and exploration of my own feelings around and ideas of ‘making home’. In this chapter, through a photo-story, I share my reality and reflections as a Polish woman in her 40s navigating the British mid- and post-Brexit academic and non-academic world, trying to answer the questions of whether the UK has truly become my home and what home really means to me.
