Abstract:

This concluding chapter synthesises key themes from the collection, highlighting the multifaceted harms experienced by transgender and gender non-conforming communities. It discusses the concept of the ‘justice void’ – a systemic absence of recognition, protection, and equity for trans people across legal, cultural, and political domains. Drawing on intersectional analyses, contributors expose how transphobic hate is perpetuated through criminal justice failures, online abuse, institutional exclusion, and hostile media narratives. Emphasising structural oppression and symbolic violence, the chapter calls for renewed scholarly, policy, and activist efforts to centre trans experiences, challenge reductive victim narratives, and promote genuine justice and inclusion.
