Abstract:The diagnosis in medicine and healthcare is a process of mapping a set of symptoms to a class/diagnosis. The accuracy has seen a tremendous improvement since the use of contemporary data mining methods which include Naïve Bayes, Decision trees and Neural Networks. Fuzzy logic is a significant technique applicable in the medicine and healthcare for mainly the diagnosis process. Many knowledge-based expert systems with high accuracy rates can be designed and developed using the fuzzy logic concepts. In this study we examine the current techniques and their significance in medical care. Also, we emphasize on the usage of fuzzy systems with the focus on heart disease diagnosis. The use of fuzzy based systems not only enhances the accuracy but implements a more transparent process.
