I joined Bournemouth University as a University Practice Learning Advisor in October 2022. I qualified from Bournemouth University with a BSC in Adult Nursing in 2011. My first registered role was within the acute medical field specialising in gastroenterology developing my knowledge and skills managing acutely unwell patients with a variety of chronic conditions. I have always enjoyed teaching as part of my role and assumed the role as student link nurse during this time.

I have had experience as a practice educator across both sites of UHD, spanning from 2015-2022. I thoroughly enjoyed my role which allowed me to support learners, practice assessors and supervisors across all departments. During this time, I developed multiple tools and strategies to aid learners including a games-based maths medicine management workshop (featuring conversion Jenga, equation connect four and BNF lock box challenges), learning logs (aiding learners to provide evidence from assessment) and a handbook for student nurse and overseas nurses new to the Trust... Joining the UPLA team felt like a natural progression to my career, allowing me to continue to support learners and practice partners on a larger scale. Working collaboratively with our practice colleagues to maintain quality assurance of our placement provision has allowed me to continue my passion for teaching, including developing resources that suit varied learners’ needs.
