Abstract:Every academic discipline has its rules and conventions on the scope and analysis of its content and how to incorporate changes over time - its methodology. Economics has a very broad scope within which there are many specialist branches: IP and competition mostly use industrial economics, which is part of microeconomics.
I believe that one of the difficulties of doing inter-disciplinary work is that we do not easily comprehend the underlying methodologies of different academic disciplines. This essay is an attempt to explain how economics is applied to digitisation, copyright and regulation in the creative industries.
