Biography
Pronouns she/her.
I work in the Social Work Team at BU and teach on several units including Learning from the Lived Experience and Social Justice.
I have been a qualified social worker since 2011, graduating from Bournemouth University. I worked for around 10 years in statutory drug and alcohol social work and latterly within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team, prior to coming to BU.
I currently work part time at BU and also work part time as an Independent Social Worker. I work completing Best Interests Assessments for people who have been deprived of their liberty and I am also an independent Practice Educator supporting social work students out on placement.
To find out more about my independent work you can see my website https://www.yournatureuk.com.
My areas of interest are around social work being about social justice and human rights and how this links with climate justice. I am interested in the intersectionality of social work and climate issues and how we can address this on micro and macro levels...
My current area of research is around supporting social workers in maintaining their own mental health and well being and subsequent longevity in their career by accessing nature. I have a keen interest both personally and professionally in the benefits of nature and think that the more people benefit from nature, the more likely they are to want to protect it.
