Biography
I work as an Audio Demonstrator in the Faculty of Media and Communications for the School of Journalism, English and Communications at Bournemouth University.
I have been a professional musician since I was seventeen years old and have amassed over thirty years’ experience in studio and live music production. In 2015 I achieved a 1st Class Honours in Music and Sound Technology and then in 2017 I added a Masters (with Distinction) in Sound Design for Film and Television at Bournemouth University.
My work in postproduction includes; ADR, dialogue editing, Foley, sound design, and music composition and editing for animation, documentary, and independent fiction films. My experience as a location recordist includes a diverse range of projects from two-person self-shoot documentaries filling dual roles of recordist and boom operator, to Production Sound Mixer leading a team of boom operators in multi-camera independent fiction film productions.
Over the years I have worked to become an accomplished studio technician; producing my own, and other artists’ material, and building my own project studio... Flexible and adaptable, I have worked both as a solo artist and with other musicians. I am comfortable both leading and taking the backseat in group work; I have project managed as well as been commissioned by other group leaders for a varied range of projects such as sound installations, live and studio recording sessions, live sound production, and experimental music performances.
As my career has developed, I have become steadily more committed to supporting young people to learn music and music/audio technology and nurture their own passion for the subject.
