Abstract:The recent 65th birthday of the NHS is a reminder of the purpose of the NHS: to provide a service that puts people that need it at the heart of care. However, recent negative reports have questioned nurses' ability to provide this care, which led to the development of the 6Cs. This article examines each of these values from the viewpoint of the district nursing service, in particular from a district nurse's perspective, as well as providing a critical commentary regarding the future of the service.
