Research and audit in midwifery: Does the difference matter

Abstract:

There is increasing pressure on midwives to prove that their practice is research based and to audit the quality of care they provide. However, there appears to be some confusion about which activities are research and which are audit. This article aims to clarify the differences and to show that there are implications for practice.
