Abstract:

Operating theatre nursing is at the forefront of changes in the provision of health care throughout the UK, and the concept of accountability remains firmly rooted in the bedrock of best professional practices. As Castle- dine ( 1991 ) stated, accountability for nurses is 'that special phenomena related to nursing practice which nurses are entrusted with, answerable for, take the credit and blame for, and can be judged within legal and moral boundaries'.
