Biography
I graduated from Coventry University in 2016 with a BSc Midwifery (Hons) 1st class, and since then, I have gained extensive experience working across a variety of clinical settings, including both hospital and community care. My passion lies in promoting and supporting physiological birth, particularly for women and birthing people who may be considered 'high risk' in their care planning. This commitment has guided much of my practice and research interests.
I am currently working as a Midwifery lecturer at Bournemouth University, leading on teaching for the optimal use of medicines in midwifery practice, and fetal monitoring. In 2024, I qualified from the Postgraduate Certificate in Practice Education, with distinction, further enhancing my skills in education and academia. The work undertaken was submitted as an application for fellowship, and I was subsequently awarded my FHEA.
I recently completed my MRes, exploring the impact of term admission to neonatal intensive care units, for women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus... Mostly focussed on qualitative research methods, this project was the foundation for my first two published research articles.
I have since enrolled the PhD programme and am excited to continue exploring maternal and neonatal morbidities associated with gestational diabetes; aiming to contribute to the field through impactful research.
