Biography
Michael Hacon is a Demonstrator in Engineering Principals for the Faculty of Science and Technology at Bournemouth University. BSc Enginering (Hons)
He is a time served apprentice, trained in all manual machining and CNC production techniques. After qualifying he took up a post as toolmaker for a medium size engineering company before moving to a subcontract engineering company where he specialized in press tools and prototype manufacture.
He spent 10 years at the university of Portsmouth as Principal Technician in the Manufacturing Laboratory, where he instructed in the use of CAD CAM software and programming of CNC mills and lathes. He also instructed in Pneumatics and automation with industrial robots, as well as producing injection moulding tools for specimens and running a moulding machine.
He then spent 8 years working for an international aircraft company producing business class interiors for Trans Atlantic airlines ( Virgin, Emirates, British Airways) as the CAM supervisor for CNC production of light weight composite components...
Upon taking up the position of Demonstrator he has lead the introduction of a new project for students to encompass as many machining techniques as possible including making a new press tool for producing a flywheel for the Stirling Engine project.
He is a lifelong motorcyclist and has built his own motorbike engined kit car.
