Abstract:

Sniff is a text based programming based on Scratch. Scratch is extremely popular and effective in teaching primary school computing, but being block based becomes limiting for more advanced users. By contrast most existing languages are overly complex, and difficult for many students at KS3/secondary school.

By re-imagining Scratch as Text, Sniff allows students to develop much more advanced programs, while building upon their existing knowledge and confidence in Scratch.
