Abstract:BBC Interview: BU’s Professor Jens Hölscher advises on BOE interest rate hikes (BBC Interview, 4th August, 2023) Escalating interest rates by The Bank of England are highly concerning. BU’s Economics Professor, Jens Hölscher, explained the tough impacts on house owners, renters and house buyers. Jens put this in context with the US, Europe and Germany management strategies, who seem to be faring better than the UK with lower inflation too. He concluded with a realistic prediction of economic financial signs for slowing down, flatter more manageable interest rates possible by spring, contradicting the BOE dire predictions for next five years, however he warned, it is unlikely to return to the unusual minimal interest rates seen in the past decade.
