Biography
I am a Lecturer in Psychology and BACP-registered counsellor.
I graduated from the University of Michigan (USA) in 2015 with a BSc in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience. I then completed an MSc in Psychological Science at the University of Glasgow Healthy Cognition Lab in 2017, followed by a PhD project within the same lab (2022). My PhD work explored the application of brief, decentering-based mindfulness strategies in the domains of food cravings and anxiety.
Since I am passionate about how research and clinical practice may interact to enhance mental health and wellbeing, I started my professional doctoral training in Counselling Psychology at the University of Roehampton in September 2022. I am currently a final year Trainee Counselling Psychologist, with clinical experience in a range of settings including Higher Education counselling services, the third sector, and NHS secondary care.
My primary research interests are in the integration of brief mindfulness practices into daily life, wellbeing in healthcare settings, and client psychotherapy preferences... My current projects employ a range of methodologies, including qualitative, longitudinal mixed methods, and systematic review approaches. My current clinical interests include Higher Education counselling and working with eating disorders.
