Development of an enhanced video location and tracking system for an XY servo table

A PC equipped with a monochrome screen capture card and dedicated camera, is used to provide position feedback for an automated tracking system. It is shown how object location information can be extracted from a composite video signal to provide position feedback for closed-loop control of a 2 dof servo-driven tracking system. Difficulties encountered are highlighted and conclusions are drawn from experimental observations.
