Abstract:

We aim to explore how SNSs are being used by the public and crisis response organizations in times of crisis. By doing so, we seek to demonstrate the various functions and benefits that these tools provide as well as how they complement crisis management. In doing so, we will examine some of the inherent challenges of social networking in times of crisis and identify a number of open issues to be considered for further research.
