Abstract:

This chapter introduces the overall themes of the book, those golden threads that appear in each of the chapters and enable the reader to gain an overall understanding of communities of practice, but also the array of ways in which it can be explored, developed and experienced. The chapter also includes definitions of the main ideas that will be explored throughout the book to ensure clarity and a focused approach. The last part of this chapter explains the organisation of the book and introduces each of the chapters with an overview of what each will explore.
