Abstract:

The Headstart Kernow project (https://www.headstartkernow.org.uk/) was one of six Big Lottery-funded Headstart projects across the UK, now in receipt of further public health funding from the local authority. Based in Cornwall, Headstart Kernow had its primary aim to be "Building resilience and mental wellbeing for children and young people" through providing support in schools and across the children's workforce that focussed on early intervention for mental health issues, based upon a Trauma-Informed Schools approach (Thomas et al., 2019). The project was unique among the Headstart projects in that it took an inclusive, youth-driven approach to consider the impact of online harms upon children's well-being and mental health, rather than implementing a programme of intervention based upon existing "online safety" resources.
