Abstract:

The COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine war have underscored the inevitability of supply chain disruptions. Inadequate supply chain resilience (SCR) leads to mismatches between demand and supply, disrupting normal operational processes in production, distribution, and inventory control. While existing research offers various definitions and metrics for SCR across different product supply chains, this paper focuses on how digital twin technologies can enhance SCR. We propose an Industry 4.0-enabled architecture tailored for a factory with multiple suppliers and extended inventory, aimed at improving SCR. Additionally, we present different simulation scenarios for an LED factory to demonstrate how digital twin technologies support SCR across various phases.
