Abstract:

The Politics of Information in the post-information age is complex and multi-faceted, as greater accessibility to information results in more complex social policy issues. Information politics needs to consider the challenges governments face in providing access and bridging digital divides, while managing narratives amid diverse information sources, echo chambers, and the rise of social media. Key issues like censorship, net neutrality and information privacy are all issues for governments, and civil society, to tackle within the context of evolving technological landscapes. Underpinning all these issues the importance of ethical considerations in handling information and highlights the need for regulatory frameworks like the General Data Protect Regulation in addressing the complexities of information systems in the digital era.
