Abstract:This chapter will help readers: understand the meaning of social exclusion and key related terms; gain insight into the socio-political and economic factors within the current context of life in the UK which give rise to social exclusion; understand individual and social factors leading to social exclusion; understand the complexity of social exclusion, which is both an outcome and consequence of disadvantage; to use reflective exercises to identify their own experiences of social exclusion and inclusion and consider these in relation to others.
