Abstract:This chapter explores the key ethical considerations surrounding the use of technology in Parasport, emphasising the complexities and challenges they present. The concept and nature of disability, impairment, and assistive technology are often ambiguous, oversimplified, or insufficiently explored, yet their impact on sport continuously pushes boundaries as increasingly sophisticated equipment is developed to enhance athlete performance. Without such debates about what we feel is right or wrong, ethical or unethical, the fundamental nature of sport may shift uncontrollably, its sustainability could be compromised, and athletes may achieve success under conditions that are inherently unfair. Several case studies are examined and instances are demonstrated where these ethical issues have sparked contention, controversy, and contradictions.
