Abstract:

This chapter presents three case studies focused on supporting doctoral students in disseminating their research, particularly within practice-based doctorates, and enhancing their communication, networking, and impact. Edgar examines supervision in creative disciplines, showing how structured guidance and iterative practice enable students to integrate creative and academic work. Abdullah explores a collaborative Educational Technology project, highlighting how constructive feedback, resilience, and external partnerships enhance research outcomes and dissemination. Riby, Rees, and Strachan introduce the ‘how2collaborate’ training programme, which develops doctoral students’ soft skills, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration, preparing them for diverse professional contexts. Collectively, these case studies underscore the importance of supervision, feedback, and skill development in amplifying the reach and relevance of doctoral research.
