Abstract:We believe that a text-to-emotion engine is a useful enhancement to real-time internet communication environments. The latest version of an emotion extraction engine and a series of tests carried out to examine the effectiveness of the engine are presented in this paper. The emotion extraction engine can analyse input text from a real-time chat environment, extract the emotion being communicated, and deliver the emotional parameters necessary to invoke an appropriate expressive image for the appropriate emotion on screen to the communicating user. We carry out user tests aiming to obtain results on the effectiveness of the engine and the demonstration application.
