The 3 R's of Olympic Legacy

Authors: Sadd, D.

Conference: Global Events Congress IV: Events and Festivals Research: State of the Art

Dates: 14-16 July 2010

Abstract:

The question arises if it is regeneration, rejuvenation or revitalisation that is taking place in the east end of London as a result of the hosting of the London Olympics in 2012. Each term has a different meaning in the context of who benefits in the long-run from the developments. Examples from previous Olympic host cities are used to demonstrate this. This presentation builds upon the initial presentation given at the Olympic Legacy conference at Brunel University in 2009.
