Abstract:

A growing body of literature links firm performance with sustainability efforts.

However, the impact of going green on new firm start-ups has received little attention in the literature. Do the rewards of going green differ across new firm start-ups, middle aged firms, and old mature firms? Using a large scale database, this paper fills this gap and suggests that rewards to be green differ across the firms’ age distribution with entrepreneurial firms benefitting most from going green.
