Abstract:

A summary of 16 recent construct validity studies is provided by this research which assesses evidence demonstrating whether virtual reality (VR) simulators can be used to assess and score the skill levels of orthopaedic surgeons. The findings of this study are that there is overwhelming evidence that VR simulators can reliably assess the skill levels of orthopaedic trainees, which suggests that VR training could potentially be used as part of a residency testing or assessment tool for orthopaedic surgery. This research provides an analysis of virtual reality orthopaedic simulator construct validity.
