Biography

Professor Rob Middleton is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip replacement procedures. He works in the National Health Service (NHS) at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and at Poole Hospital where he is Director of Trauma. He also works privately at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital and The Harbour Hospital, Poole.

Professor Middleton is recognised both nationally and internationally for his work. In 2008 he was appointed as the National Clinical Lead in hip and knee replacement at the NHS Institute of Innovation and Improvement. In this role he specialises in the development of enhanced recovery techniques for patients which enables faster recovery and better outcomes from surgery. He is also a highly active researcher and has worked on the development of new techniques in orthopaedic surgery for the last fifteen years. This work has led to his appointment as a Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University.
